Under the direction of the Chairman of the IWCC this position organizes, plans, executes, controls, and evaluates the operations of the Transcript and Court Reporting Departments. Serves as a moderator, interceding on disagreements or complaints between Arbitrators, Court Reporters and attorneys practicing before the Commission. The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage all aspects of the agency's court reporting department. Serves as the Transcripts & Court Reporting Administrator; organizes, plans, executes, controls and evaluates the operations of the Transcripts & Court Reporting sections: 2. Serves as full-line supervisor: 3. Prepares statewide court reporting calendars for the Commission’s Arbitrations and Review trials. 4. Serves as a moderator interceding on disagreements or complaints of confidential nature between Commissioners, Arbitrators, injured workers, attorneys practicing before the Commission and court reporters. 5. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications 1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration. 2. Requires prior experience equivalent to three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization. Preferred Qualifications 1. Graduation from a recognized school of court reporting. 2. Possession of a valid Illinois certificate of registration as a certified court reporter. 3. At least 3 years of experience related to the production of court transcripts. 4. At least 1 year of experience supervising staff in a professional environment that includes application of discipline, evaluating employee performance, determining staffing needs, and establishing employee goals and objectives. 5. At least 2 years of experience working in court system handling attorney, judge, and witness testimony. 6. At least 1 year of experience generating calendar assignments for a group of individuals. Conditions of Employment 1. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. 2. Ability to travel to hearing sites. 3. Ability to use a personal computer or laptop.
