Job Description
Job Summary A lumber yard delivery driver is responsible for safely transporting lumber and other building materials from a lumber yard to customer job sites, which includes loading the delivery truck, securing the load, navigating to the delivery location, unloading the materials, and ensuring customer satisfaction, often requiring the ability to operate a forklift and maintain a clean driving record; a valid driver's license is necessary, and a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred.

Duties/Responsibilities: - Accurately selecting and loading lumber and building materials onto the delivery
- truck using a forklift.
- Securing loads properly to prevent damage during transport.
- Unloading materials at the customer's job site, often requiring manual handling of
- heavy items.
- Following delivery schedules and routes to ensure timely deliveries.
- Verifying delivery addresses and quantities with customers.
- Navigating traffic and job site access restrictions.
- Interacting with customers professionally, addressing questions and concerns
- about deliveries.
- Collect and document products for return.
- Collect payment for deliveries when necessary.
- Unload and stock orders from suppliers.
- Performing daily vehicle inspections.
- Reporting any vehicle maintenance issues to the supervisor.
Required Skills/Qualifications: - Ability to lift and maneuver heavy building materials up to 50lbs.
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record (CDL preferred.)
- Proficiency in operating a forklift to load and unload materials.
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers.
- Ability to read maps and navigate to delivery locations effectively.
Education and Experience: - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Forklift operation experience preferred.
Physical Requirements: - Prolonged periods sitting in a truck.
- Must be able to bend, lift and climb.
- Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.
- Must be able to navigate lumber yard and reach items both high and low.
