Position Summary:

The Pediatric and Adolescent Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) will provide outpatient psychiatric evaluations and medication management services for children and adolescents experiencing behavioral and mental health disorders. The PMHNP will collaborate with Arizona Total Care’s outpatient clinics and field teams to support youth clients and their families. This position is primarily office-based , with telehealth services available to reach patients in remote or underserved areas. The PMHNP will work closely with clinic staff for care coordination, insurance pre-authorization, and caseload management .

Job Requirements and Qualifications: Minimum Required Education:
  • Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
  • Completion of a certified Advanced Practice Program in Psychiatry/Mental Health with training in pediatric and adolescent populations
Minimum Required Experience:
  • 1–2 years of direct patient care experience in child and adolescent psychiatry
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children, teens, and their families
Preferred Experience:
  • 3+ years as a psychiatric provider working with pediatric or adolescent populations
  • Experience with telehealth psychiatry services
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMH) as a PMHNP
  • Active and unrestricted APRN license in the state of Arizona
  • Valid and unrestricted DEA license in Arizona
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Maintain credentials and licensure with major insurance providers (with credentialing support from Arizona Total Care)
Other Skills Required:
  • Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) documentation
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to write clinical documentation and present case details in both written and verbal formats
  • Capable of making sound, independent clinical decisions
  • Strong organizational skills and a commitment to collaborative, team-based care
Working Conditions / Environment:
  • Full-time : 40 hours/week
  • Schedule : Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat pediatric and adolescent patients with behavioral and emotional disorders
  • Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications according to best practices and clinical guidelines
  • Complete documentation including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, outcome tracking, and billing entries in a timely manner
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans for youth patients
  • Order and interpret laboratory or diagnostic tests to aid in evaluation and treatment
  • Prepare reports, summaries, and documentation for insurance and regulatory purposes as required
  • Make independent decisions based on clinical protocols and national pediatric psychiatric treatment guidelines
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as payer requirements
  • Educate and support patients, families, and caregivers regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and ongoing care
  • Participate in clinical trainings, in-services, and staff meetings to stay current on pediatric psychiatric best practices
