Job Summary:

Bourbon & Bones Lounge - Square One Concepts, is seeking a reliable and efficient Prep/Pantry cook to join the team. The ideal candidate will be responsible in prepping and organizing the ingredients and components necessary for our dining dishes. You will work closely with the culinary team to maintain the highest quality standards and uphold our commitment to delivering exceptional culinary experiences to our guests.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepares meal ingredients as directed by the head chef, senior chef, or other staff.
  • Prepares fresh produce by peeling, cutting, and portioning.
  • Prepares meat by trimming, cutting, and portioning.
  • Prepares simple dishes such as breads or salads.
  • Mixes or prepares condiments, dressings, and sauces.
  • Maintains compliance with applicable health, safety, food handling, and hygiene codes and standards.
  • Assists with unloading, inspection, and storage of raw ingredients and supplies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Food Preparation: Execute the preparation of high-quality ingredients according to established recipes and standards, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery.
  • Ingredient Organization: Maintain the pantry area, ensuring that all ingredients are properly stored, labeled, and easily accessible for use.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring inventory levels, notifying the appropriate personnel when supplies need to be replenished to avoid shortages.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of food, always ensuring a clean and organized work environment.
  • Collaborative Work: Support the culinary team in the preparation of appetizers, sauces, garnishes, and other components required for our fine dining menu.
  • Quality Control: Assist in conducting regular quality checks to ensure that all ingredients and prepared items meet our high standards for taste, presentation, and consistency.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with the kitchen staff and management regarding inventory needs, menu changes, and any concerns related to food preparation or pantry supplies.
  • Efficiency Enhancement: Identify opportunities for streamlining processes and improving efficiency within the kitchen operations, contributing to the overall success of the restaurant.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evening, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have a valid Food Handlers Certification

Education and Experience:

  • High school or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics such as food safety, preferred.
  • Prior related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and working in a kitchen.
  • Exposure to extreme heat, steam, and cold present in a kitchen environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to work late nights and unpredictable hours.
  • Manual dexterity to cut and chop foods and perform other related tasks.
