Service Writer - Truck Repair


Position Summary:
The Service Writer serves as the liaison between customers and the repair shop, ensuring accurate communication of vehicle issues, repair needs, and service timelines. This role is responsible for creating work orders, coordinating with technicians, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities:

• Greet customers and assess their service needs in a professional and courteous manner.
• Create detailed and accurate work orders based on customer input and technician diagnostics.
• Communicate repair estimates, timelines, and updates to customers.
• Coordinate with technicians to ensure timely completion of repairs.
• Review completed work orders for accuracy and completeness before closing.
• Maintain organized records of service history and customer interactions.
• Handle customer concerns or complaints with professionalism and escalate when necessary.
• Monitor parts inventory and assist in ordering parts as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a service writer or customer service role, preferably in the automotive or truck repair industry.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to understand and explain technical information.
• Proficiency with service management software and basic computer skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training is a plus.

Work Environment:

• Fast-paced repair shop setting.
• Frequent interaction with customers, technicians, and vendors.
• May require standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of parts or equipment.
